Artist Statement

Through my work I explore my response to the fundamental questions of life, spirituality, and the inner logic of things. In making images I aim to find inner happiness and an abundance from those existences that are far greater than words can describe. Drawing on my similarly interests in the Song Dynasty and Hesse's Siddhartha, I am interested in evoking a sense of solace and peacefulness.

For me, Printmaking is a process that is able to evoke a record of the information and energy that I feel in the material world, therefore, my current practice focuses on exploring techniques and media that are fluid and reflective in nature. Transferring, folding, sugar lift, and spit bite, and retaining as much randomness and uncertainty as possible in the image, so that half of the image comes from the subject's consciousness, and half of it is handed over to that much bigger thing behind the "I".
